It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with JOY, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy. I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty everyday, and if you can source your life on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon,
"Yes!"
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Once upon a midnight weary, I asked Alex to do some research for me.
------Alex's Email Below -------
You were asking me last night about what you would call it when someone attempts to "prove" something by gratuitously using phrasings you don't understand so can't refute, and I said there was no such thing? Well, I was wrong:
The technical term for this is "false erudition".
Now we both know :)

I always knew it... either this or destruction (but that's more likely Al).
You are Death! You are cheerful and pleasant, but you have a deeper meaning. You are optimistic, and can irritate people by this. However, you can also be firm and thoughtful.

And you know what that means... _eggnog_ lattes. :)
Here's my favourite 'invention' for 2003.
Aren't you sick and tired of all these distributed ways of keeping in touch with people? Don't you wish friendster and livejournal and tribe.net and hotornot.com and amazon wishlists and clubvibes and and and... would just all get together and make some uber-super network? :)
I'm having fun with my music collection. What do I generally listen to? Why... whatever iTunes tells me I have 'never' listened to. It's a bit funny when I get fed a Mozart CD and then something by Rammstein.
In web development news of the day, I'm moving my backend DB stuff from MS SQL to MySQL. Anyone out there I can ask some general questions about changes in SQL query syntax? I haven't farked around with DreamWeaver's built in DB handling stuff much yet, but I suppose I should. It'll be nice to have my laptop as a functioning development machine. Once I've sorted out MySQL I suppose I'll move on to PHP/Perl.
It has been brought to my attention that all work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Please help me haul my ass out of the house. I'll resist it, because I have _way_ to much work to do, but I'll eventually give in.
It sounds like thetroll might be up for some sushi and sake on the night of December 3rd? Is this far enough in advance for people to make plans? I'm heading out of town the following weekend, but I'm always up for some sushi and a bit of sake.

I must say, I'm comforted to know I'm only 6% compatible with thetroll, sexually. :)

Ran away. It was great.
Went here (the japanese website has some better pictures).
- beautiful setting
- big hot tub
- awesome food
- cosy living room w/fireplace
- big screen TV!
- and of course good company
For the price, I'm amazed. The breakfast alone for the two of us was worth half the daily rate. MMmmm, wasabi mayo on japanese cucumber on fresh shiso (and 15 other things).
We also hiked the chief (it was my first time). It's really a pretty easy hike even for a novice, just make sure you're wearing good shoes.
I'm still working hard and working hard but some things are starting to come together and it feels pretty good.
Reminder: if you know anyone who needs any graphic design, web design or web development, let me know. If you need something done up, let me know. Heh.
Happy hippy hoppy b-day sweety! In just 3 days you'll be sweet sixteen.

Ok, so I'm getting bugged to update this thing more often, and I'm inclined to agree that it's a good idea. However, I don't have anything really exciting to say...
I went out drinking with the boys (thetroll, bigfol, kanester, pixel, anand, and colya) and drank too much. Everything was good until it was all bad, if you know what I mean. Next time remind me I don't need to drink that much. In retrospect I was probably well liquored by the time that I thought it would be a good idea to hop into some random parked convertible just for fun. Oddly enough having thetroll go on about there being lots of police around seemed really irrelevant at the time, as in... "why does he keep on harping about that... how does it affect me?"
I'm working on a couple of websites right now... One for a guy that sells clothing emblazoned with various infectious diseases and another for a guy who's flogging a dieting system. Some cool challenges with the work but nothing too exciting in the design department. On the other hand, I'm going to make my dad's website look really cool. I have some awesome photos of his garden and I've got a great idea about how to redesign it.
It sounds like my partner in crime betsyford is conditionally accepted into an awesome course at BCIT. I'd be really excited already except that the conditions involve our government having their shit together, so I'm still kind of waiting to get pumped.
It's been difficult coming back to work this year, after the awesomeness of burning man. Having a conversation with alextwo and kaeri last night I realized how much I really just want to be creating shit. Too bad my spare time is next to nothing,... whine whine whine bitch bitch bitch. Not like I've really 'accomplished' much with my time over the last long time except for getting lots of work done. 'yay'. Heh.
I'm going to check out this thing on the 17th, if you don't have lunch plans I think it's $20.
Just finished reading The Amber Spyglass (if you liked Harry Potter you might like this darker series), now reading Love in the Time of Cholera. Anyone want to get together and swap some books? Not like I have much of a library, but I'd be happy to pull out some recommended favourites and trade you for a while. Books are almost as important as food for me, but unlike food I don't mind them 'pre-digested'. Heh.
Just saw my first episode of Six Feet Under... pretty whack show about a family that manages a funeral home. Might be worth watching except it's on at some obscene hour and it's not _quite_ good enough to give up being a wage slave just to watch.
Speaking of which, maybe I should invest some money into pixel's patented "Get Rich Quick With Math" scheme. It sounds like a good ROI, AFAIK.
